Mercy

The scientists call it neuroplasticity. It means our brains are always learning. It means we are not damned to habit, upbringing or culture. It means if we choose and rehearse generosity, interdependence and joy the brain will make those connections. God’s mercy is in our capacity to learn throughout life. Paul said this ages ago, “…be transformed by the renewing of your minds.” Scripture and science together, I love it! God has done God’s part with our design. Our part is to activate this capacity. Not to do that is arrogance which, is the rejection of God’s mercy.

Romans 12:2

Course completion helps drivers refine existing skills and develop safe driving strategies in today’s challenging driving environment. There are no tests required.

Participants receive a comprehensive course workbook, which provides a thorough review of the “rules of the road” with an emphasis on safety strategies for drivers. The course also covers normal changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time associated with aging, and provides practical techniques to adjust for these changes.

Participants are charged a minimal fee of $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for nonmembers.

Auto Insurance Discounts: Legislation in Georgia require all automobile insurance companies conducting business in this state to offer a premium discount to participants completing a state-approved driver improvement course. (Participants must contact their insurance company or agent.)

Please bring your AARP card, valid driver’s license, lunch, and a drink and snack, and of course, your money (cash or check).

Defiled

Watching what you eat is important. Watching what you say is paramount. NO invitation to be politically correct here. This is deeper. What comes to the mouth is born in the heart, Jesus said. From the mouth it rides on breath, becomes action and finds allies… character and culture get formed. We defile ourselves. This can be redeemed! Confess the distance you sit from your faith’s ideals. Take the medicine of seeing God in the face of neighbor. Vomit up the contempt you secretly harbor for others. Daily give voice to the cleansing words of grace. This is faith’s invitation.

Matthew 15:10-20

Bishop’s Message

All doubt. It’s a human thing. Still, Jesus asks the question, “why did YOU doubt?” We doubt for at least three reasons: lack of information, lack of experience or fear. How about you? Being curious about why we doubt can cause our faith to grow. What information do you need about God to shore up your faith? When it comes to experience, there’s no substitute for “tasting and seeing.” Faith not grounded in experience is not faith. Being faithful in your real life is what counts. And fear? Fear is malignant without the medicine of faith. Faith never lets fear have the last word
