Adult Confirmation and Inquirers Class…
This Sunday (April 24th) from 11:30-12:15 pm I will begin the Adult Confirmation Class and it will also serve as an Inquirer’s Class. For those wishing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, this will fulfill the pre-condition requirements and you will be presented to Bishop Don Wimberley in June. Additionally, this class will be of great value to those “inquiring” about the Christian faith and the Episcopal Church.
I will be covering a broad array of topics: The history of the Episcopal Church, the Book of Common Prayer; the Sacraments; the Creeds of the church; the Bible; church governance; church membership; core doctrines (Trinity, 2nd Coming, Virgin Birth, etc.); Eucharistic worship; seasons of the church year; church architecture and much more.
If you have been in the church for a long time this would also be a wonderful refresher course and I would encourage your attendance as well. You may already be familiar with these topics; however, as I mentioned last week, we are all lifelong learners.
So a quick test:
When was the first Anglican Prayer Book written and by whom?
When did the church in England begin?
Who were the first Episcopal Bishops in the United States?
How many bishops are needed to consecrate a new bishop?
What are the 39 Articles?
What is the Lambeth Quadrilateral?
What is the St. Athanasius Creed?
What is the Anglican Communion?
How many Sacraments are there?
What is the definition of a “communicate in good standing”?
What is the liturgical color for the season of Pentecost?
When are the two candles on the altar NOT lit?
Did you know the bishop has a special chair in every church? Where is ours?
Is the Burial Service a sacrament?
What is the Lectionary?
How is the date for Easter determined?
How often must the bishop visit each parish?
I hope this wets your appetite-come and learn!
See you Sunday,
April 24 – Wayne Pickeral
April 28 – Meg Cooper

Sacred Threads at Grace Church
The Creative Expression Ministry at Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Georgia, is very pleased to announce that we will host the nationally touring quilt exhibit, Sacred Threads, from April 13 through May 4, 2016.
The exhibition features 40 quilts with themes of joy, peace & brotherhood, inspiration, grief, healing, and spirituality. The quilts in the traveling show were chosen from a national juried exhibition of over 200 quilts held in 2015, sponsored by the Sacred Threads organization based in Fairfax, Virginia. The show does not emphasize any particular religion or theology, but conveys the spirituality, healing and inspirational messages that transcend all people.
Grace Episcopal is one of approximately 20 locations across the United States that will host this show. The quilts will be displayed in the Parish Hall and Greeting Area. Please park in the church lot at the corner of Brenau Avenue and Boulevard and enter the exhibit through the St. Francis garden
