Psalm 116:1-3, 10-17
I Peter 1:17-23
Readings for Next Week
I Peter 2:19-25
Most folks have a God story. Most are reluctant to tell theirs for fear of seeming weak-minded or childish. Yet, we have them. The Resurrection of Jesus is a God story. It will never be more than that. It will always shake hands with doubt. Still, that God did the impossible dances around us like butterflies around a flower. All my God stories have the same fragrance as the Resurrection: God refuses to be dismissed. God forgives our rejection. God reconciles us to ourself and others. God gives us a story to share.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Holy Week and Easter such a joy. I am so grateful to all of you on the Altar Guild, Vestry, Choir, Ushers, Hospitality, egg collectors. Thank you especially to Shirley who produced all the many bulletins. Eastertide has begun and will culminate in the celebration of Pentecost on June 4.
On Wednesday, May 3, we will begin a Bible Study at noon. Please bring a sack lunch to eat together after the Bible Study. During these Easter Weeks we will use the Gospel for the coming Sunday to study. If there is interest we will continue through June.
I hope to see you at the Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday, May 6th.
Yours in Christ,
May 5 – Marvin Gray

FISH4Kids Summer Lunch Program-We are days away from the anticipated last day of school. Most kids are excited about a summer filled with family outings and great adventures. Here in Walton County we have close to 2,300 children who fear school being out due to the challenges of their environment, including having sufficient food. Faith in Serving Humanity (FISH) will provide daily sack lunches again this summer to these children. Will you prayerfully consider sponsoring a child? For $60, a child will be fed each weekday this summer and receive a hygiene kit. Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will help purchase food for the program.
Please pick up a card from the basket on the round table in the Narthex. Make checks payable to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and drop it with the completed card in the offering plate or turn in to the St. Alban’s front office. Thank you!!
The “Day1” Radio Program is asking us to promote their radio program. You can listen to Day1 – the hope-filled message of faith – on NEWS 95.5 FM and AM750 Sundays at 7:05 a.m. or anytime on Day1.org.
